Capital City Strings, Inc. was founded in 2015 by Marilyn Wallin, Master Violinmaker. She holds advanced degrees in both viola performance and in violinmaking, skills that combine to bring a careful and thorough approach to every instrument and bow.

During her 35 years in Chicago and Boston, she has made over 200 instruments and trained over 60 apprentices. The Medals and Certificates of Merit she has earned in International violinmaking competitions have put her at the forefront of violinmaking in America.

Joining Marilyn in the shop is Cy Amesquita, Bow Specialist in residence on Tuesdays. He handles all bow repairs and rehairs. His excellent instruments will be showcased in upcoming exhibits.

They are joined by two apprentices, learning the trade at Capital City Strings:

Julia Emery and Matthew Young, Apprentice Technicians.

Leonard Young serves as the Business Administrator.

Marilyn has served the trade as President of the Violin Society of America and as Governor of America’s Luthier’s guild, the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers.

She is Nebraska’s only Member!
